Start an outreach sequence from a Network contact

Start runs from Network search results, the job description requirement, ad-hoc job records.

At a glance: You can start outreach from Network—not just from a posting you saved. After revealing a contact in a Network search, click Start outreach on the card, pick an outreach plan, and we kick off a run tied to that person and the role you searched. One important rule: outreach from Network needs a job description—paste it in Advanced options before searching so the option lights up.

The flow at a glance

  1. On Network → Search, run a search and (importantly) include the job description in Advanced options.

  2. Reveal the contact you want to email.

  3. Click Start outreach on the revealed card.

  4. Pick an outreach plan (one of your active plans, or a default).

  5. SeeVee creates a run for that contact and the ad-hoc job we built from your search.

  6. Watch progress on Outreach → Runs and handle drafts under Tasks.

Why a job description is required

Outreach personalization—first email, follow-ups, subject lines—uses the job description as raw material. Without one, the plan can’t produce meaningful copy, so we hide the Start outreach action until you’ve added a description. You’ll see a one-line hint right under the results.

Adding the description without leaving the page

Click Edit search on the results card, open Advanced options, paste the description, and re-run the search. We preserve the contact list so you don’t lose your place; Start outreach becomes available once the description is in.

“Ad-hoc job” — what it means

When you start outreach from a Network search, we create a lightweight job record behind the scenes (the “ad‑hoc job”) so the run has somewhere to attach to. It uses the company, title, and description from your search. The run lives in Outreach → Runs the same way as a run started from a posting on your feed—same statuses, same Tasks, same Threads once email starts flowing.

Starting from a target or company profile

The same flow works on the Targets tab (after you Find contacts) and on a company profile page. Anywhere a contact card has an outreach button, the rules are the same: revealed contact + job description → start a run.

Multiple plans on one contact

If you start more than one plan on the same person for the same role, we’ll show the existing plan IDs on the card so you don’t accidentally double up. You can still proceed; the duplicate prompt is just a heads-up.

If a run won’t start

  • Missing job description — add one in Advanced options.

  • No email connected — connect Gmail or Outlook in Settings → Email.

  • Contact not yet revealed — reveal the card first; you can’t start a run on a hidden contact.
