Tasks

Updated over 2 months ago

Tasks are the individual actions that make up a sequence.

They are created when a person is added to a sequence and represent the actual steps of outreach or preparation you take over time.

What Is a Task

A task is a single action in a sequence.

Tasks are always associated with:

  • A specific person

  • A specific sequence

  • A specific campaign (for organization and tracking)

When you enroll someone into a sequence, tasks are created for that person based on the steps in the sequence.

How Tasks Are Created

Tasks are created automatically when:

  • You add a person to a sequence

  • A sequence advances to its next step

You do not manually create tasks in most cases. Sequences handle task creation and timing for you.

Automated vs Manual Tasks

Tasks fall into two categories.

Automated Tasks

Automated tasks complete on their own once their timer is reached.

These are typically used for actions like sending approved automated emails. When the scheduled time arrives, the task completes without input from you.

Manual Tasks

Manual tasks require your action.

These tasks act as prompts or reminders. Examples include:

  • Approving or sending an email

  • Completing LinkedIn outreach

  • Finishing an application

  • Taking a suggested action related to the sequence

Manual tasks give you control when judgment or context matters.

Task Timing

Each task has an associated timer.

Timers control when a task becomes active and can be set in:

  • Minutes

  • Hours

  • Days

Timers are relative to the previous task in the sequence, which allows outreach to unfold gradually instead of all at once.

Completing Tasks

When you complete a task:

  • The action is logged in the campaign activity

  • The next task in the sequence is scheduled

  • Sequence timing continues automatically

You do not need to manually advance sequences.

What Happens When Someone Replies or Is Interested

Tasks are designed to stop once real engagement begins.

If someone replies or shows interest:

  • All remaining tasks for that person stop

  • No new tasks are created for them

  • You take over the conversation manually

This prevents continued outreach once a real conversation is underway.

Tasks and Paused Campaigns

If a campaign is paused:

  • Active tasks stop

  • Upcoming tasks are not triggered

When the campaign is restarted, task progression resumes based on the sequence rules.

Limits

There are no limits on:

  • The number of tasks in a sequence

  • The number of people you can add to a sequence

This allows you to scale effort up or down depending on how important a role is to you.

Why Tasks Matter

Tasks turn plans into action.

They remove the need to remember follow ups, ensure consistent timing, and help you stay organized across multiple job pursuits without losing track of details.
