Variables

Updated over 2 months ago

Variables help personalize outreach inside sequences without requiring you to rewrite every message.

They are used inside email and LinkedIn tasks to adapt messages to the job, the company, and the person you are reaching out to.

What Are Variables

A variable is a placeholder that gets filled in when a task runs.

Variables allow the same sequence to feel personal for different people by automatically pulling in relevant context.

Variables are applied at the task level, not the campaign level.

Where Variables Are Used

Variables can be used anywhere text is generated inside a task, including:

  • Email subject lines

  • Email bodies

  • LinkedIn connection messages

  • LinkedIn messages

They work the same way across all sequences.

Standard Variables

Standard variables insert known information directly into your message.

Examples include:

  • First name

  • Company name

  • Job title

  • Role or team context

These variables are deterministic. They simply replace placeholders with known values and do not change the structure of the message.

AI Variables

AI variables generate content dynamically using context.

They can reference:

  • The job description

  • The company

  • The role you are pursuing

  • The person you are contacting

  • Your background and experience

AI variables are useful for creating personalized language without writing from scratch, especially for openings or transitions in messages.

Using Variables Inside Sequences

When you add a person to a sequence:

  • Variables resolve using that person’s data

  • Job and company context from the campaign is applied

  • AI generated content is created at send time

This allows the same sequence to adapt naturally across different contacts.

Best Practices

  • Use standard variables for factual details

  • Use AI variables for context or personalization

  • Always review AI generated content in manual tasks

  • Keep messages short and natural

  • Avoid stacking too many variables in one message

Variables should support clarity, not overwhelm the reader.

Common Mistakes

  • Sending AI generated content without review

  • Using variables that may not have data

  • Over personalizing in a way that feels unnatural

If something feels off, edit it. Manual control always takes priority.

Why Variables Matter

Variables make sequences scalable without making them robotic.

They allow you to stay relevant, timely, and personal while keeping outreach structured and efficient.
